The Engage-Study-Activate technique is really the best way to teach English, but may need to change up the lesson so that the students will not predicate the class flow. So you may Engage then do an activate session where you can see what are the gaps and then the study session which is the main part of the teaching can focus on the gaps in knowledge. There are so many great examples of games and methods for a teacher to use during the engagement stage and this is dependent upon the age and knowledge of the students. And this is a super important part of the lesson because you have to get them focused right away. So having interesting topics or games is the best way to get them engaged. And then the study portion will need to be prepared before hand in many cases so you have the worksheets for them to study the lesson. A teacher needs to be prepared so that there is not down time. And the activate session is also a time that a teacher can be creative in the lesson. Activate is so important because it is the time that a student puts the knowledge to real world use.
