After studying this unit, it is far more clear to me what constitutes a good lesson plan. Perhaps, the most notable aspect of a lesson plan in not so much what is covered but how a particular subject is covered. It seems to me that if the teacher can pinpoint the language point they want to cover, a good lesson plan will illuminate other aspects of the language as well. For example, the lesson plan in this unit's language point is animal vocabulary; however, a very important language structure is illuminated with the addition of can and can't. Using animals and their abilities offers opportunities to learn many new verbs in their base form. Using the modal verb "can" allows students the chance to learn many other new words and practice talking about their own human abilities.
