This unit i learned that there different reasons for reading and listening. Mainly either for a purpose or for entertainment. And that there are various methods as to how we read. For example, for predictive skills, this is when we only read the headline of a magazine (for example) and from that we can predict the content of that particular article. We also skim. We do this to get the general idea of what the content is. There are about 3 more methods of how we read that were covered in this unit. The unit also taught me that it is wise to pre-teach vocabulary that might be difficult for students to understand and that certain topics might either motivate or demotivate students from learning which is why it's important to choose a topic that will generally be interesting to all students.
