From this unit we understood that that modal verbs which cannot be used on their own. They need to be accompanied by another verb , which is the main verb of the sentence. They are used to express ability, obligation, probability and possibility, requests and offers , advise and assumptions. Each modal verb can have more than meaning which depends on the context of that sentence.for example - you can go now ( in this case it expresses permission ) , you can play the guitar ( here it expresses ability) . Speaking about phrasal verbs it is vital to mention that there are three types of verbes . Intransitive - which can not be followed by a direct object. Second is Transitive separable - when an object pronoun can come between the verb and the particle . Or the object phrase or object pronoun both come after the particle . Third is transitive inseperable when the object pronoun and object phrase come after the particle .
