I learned that this unit might be one of the simpler ones to teach. I learned that there are things students need to know about vocabulary and grammar and things they need to do with the new language, no matter the level of their class. Those things include; to be exposed to the language, understand it's meaning, to understand how it's constructed and how to be able to practice and pronounce it. I also learned that there are different ESA structures better suited for what exactly you are trying to teach the student. For example, lessons that are targeted at teaching vocabulary and grammar, are best done with the Straight Arrow ESA structure while the Boomerang and Patchwork ESA structures are better suited for lessons targeted at language function. However, there are no specific rules about this.
