Lesson planning is important in organising the class and making sure that it runs smoothly. Planning the lesson helps both the teacher and the students because the teacher is able to focus on achieving his/her goals as well as making sure that the students fulfill their objectives. Planning the lesson also prevents the teacher from rambling and helps to keep the lesson focused and within a time frame. It helps with preparation and making sure that the lesson does not go over the assigned time. Lesson plans also help in preparing for possible challenges that both the teacher and the students might face and coming up with possible solutions beforehand. A lesson plan must not be rigid though. The teacher must be able to be flexible and mold the lesson to fit the pace of the class and the level of the students.
