In Unit three of this ITTT course, theories, methods and techniques were introduced. Many of these I had never heard of before, so I am glad they were explained. For example, methodologies like Grammar/translation, Audio-lingualism, Presentation, Practice and Production, Task-Based Learning, Communicate Language Teaching, Community Language Learning, The Silent Way, Suggestopaedia, and the Lexical approach were explained. Engage, Study and Activate is another important method in this unit as explained includes elicitation, engage, study and activate as major points to consider when designing an effective lesson plan for students. Different games and activities were listed such as hangman, word searches, gap fill, tongue twisters, etc. to help give teachers some ideas for interesting lessons. Ways to correct mistakes students make was in the unit as well. Overall, it was great to learn about all of these topics, and I think it will help me in the future as an ESL teacher.
