In this Unit, I have been able to reinforce my existing knowledge in the following areas: a) the use of modal auxiliary verbs; and b) the passive voice. The Unit also provided me a brief overview of phrasal verbs and relative clauses. It was very useful for me to revisit and re-learn the basic rules of modal verbs, for example, how to use them in sentences and what the basic functions of each of the key modal verbs are. The section on the passive voice, too, helped me to refresh my understanding in the same way. I found the section on the teaching ideas very useful and relevant indeed - I can borrow and use many of the ideas from these aspects in my own teaching. Where I feel I still need to reinforce my knowledge and understanding is definitely around the phrasal verbs and their distinctions, especially the Type 2 and Type 3 transitive separable phrasal verbs.
