This unit described the four aspects of the past tense: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. The beginning of the unit laid out some common characteristics of each aspect in every tense. For example, if the verb 'to have' is in the present, it will be the present perfect. I want to memorize these characteristics because I think they will be very useful to me in my teaching. I also want to remember that in the past perfect, 'after' and 'when' are used to show that a past action completely finished before a second past action. I have found the past tense to be a bit easier than the present tense.
