The first unit has given me good insight on the roles and expectations of both the teacher and the student. It thoroughly described what characteristics a teacher should have, such as being kind and patient, have a love for teaching and for their students, and should be able to motivate any kind of student. I've also learned a lot about learners, and what may go through their minds at different ages. A few examples would include teens being less motivated, but adults being highly motivated. I have also learned what levels that students are generally categorized in, such as beginner, elementary, pre-intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate, and advanced, as well as what qualifies a student to fit into the category. Overall, I think the most important thing that I've learned is how many roles a teacher must have and carry out when teaching. A teacher is so many things, a manager, a tutor, a prompter, and many more in various settings and situations.
