As I see it lesson planning, no matter what the subject or discipline, has three basic components of instruction: content, process and evaluation.
Content is the media and methods teachers use to impart knowledge and instruct skills, ideas and information. Media and methods play a vital role in enhancing the lesson instruction and presentation. Media is defined as any teaching aids or resources that are used as part of the lesson.
Process is the exercises and practices students perform to “learn” and understand content. The instructional process describes the activities, strategies and methods that provide the means through which students will achieve the stated lesson (learning) objectives.
Evaluation or assessments are the products and materials, such as tests and projects that students complete to demonstrate their understanding of the content. There are basically three types: initial, formative and summative.
