I learned that the conditional is something I never thought through as a native English speaker. Teaching it seems harder as a second language to learn which gave me the appreciation of learning the terms. The zero, first, second, third, and mixed conditionals are all different with different rules. I also learned when reporting direct dialogue, the term for correctly saying it to someone else is backshifting.
