This unit requires that we reflect on the desirable qualities of good teachers and students, as well as the ways in which students might differ from one another, especially across age groups. In essence, a good teacher is helpful, energetic, accessible, and can perform multiple roles for the students. The students should in turn be curious and dedicated, and if this is not the case, the teacher is responsible for working individually with students to get them the attention they need. This unit also provides information about different language levels and how we might expect learners at different ages to differ in terms of their classroom presence and why they are in the classroom.
