There are many different approaches to language teaching, and the matter of which method is best is still under debate. The method recommended by this course is Engage, Study, Activate (ESA). The basis of the "Engage" stage is to prompt student discussion. Rather than correcting students during this stage, the teacher should take note of whatever mistakes or errors arise and address them during the "Study" stage. During the "Study" stage, students will focus on the analyzing grammar, words, or phrases. The "Activate" stage will follow next. Students will utilize the new grammar they have just studied by playing a game, doing role play, or another fun and engaging activity. Teachers may adjust ESA to meet their needs; not every class has to follow the same order. From this lesson, I learned how to properly structure a lesson plan.
