Unit 16 introduces conditionals, reported sentences, and how students are often confused by the two. We are taught four different types of conditionals (zero, first, second, third, and mixed), how tenses and time expressions often change when speech is being reported. The number of changes that take place within conditionals and reported speech means the non-native speakers will make many mistakes. Conditionals should be taught slowly in order to minimize confusion. This lesson grants me a deeper understanding of what my students may struggle with, and provides fun and creative games to encourage learning - my lessons therefore will be greatly improved.
