Every word in a sentence serves a grammatical purpose; the goal of this chapter is to explain and extrapolate on those purposes. Within the English language, there are: various types of nouns, various types of adjectives, definite and indefinite articles, transitive and intransitive verbs, infinitives, auxiliary verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions. The functions of each of grammatical principle is described in detail, and examples are provided. This unit has deepened my understanding of the exact functions of each word within a sentence, in a simple and understandable way.
