This unit provided a great overview of equipment that is commonly found or brought into the language-learning classroom. Most of it was a review of known equipment for me, but provided me with more information that I haven't necessarily considered until now. For example, I am now thinking about the kinds of equipment that might reduce the amount of time that I have to turn my back to my students. One thing that was nearly new to me was the interactive whiteboard. In the case that I encounter one of these, I am thankful to have read the section on it first so that it isn't a total surprise.
I also thought that this unit could be really helpful in the event that I plan on traveling to a foreign country to teach English, because there may be some materials that I wish to pack that could be difficult to come by in a less developed or rural area. Of course, I am not about to pack an entire overhead projector or the like--but keeping within reason, there might be some good items for my packing list.
Finally, the thorough list of resources at the end of the unit is invaluable. It would be helpful to have all of these bookmarked on my internet browser before embarking on my teaching journey. By being familiar with the websites ahead of time, I might also be able to suggest certain sites to any students who wish for more supplemental practice and reference materials.
