Unit 14 gave me orientation how to use course books and materials effectively. Ideally teachers should combine using authentic materials, created materials and also course books during their lessons. Authentic materials cannot be designed to students’ level of knowledge, but carefully chosen materials can be interesting and motivating for learners. Created materials can be graded to the level of the learners and help teachers to replace course books and make lessons less predictable and boring. The biggest advantage of the course books that they mix grammar and vocabulary in a balanced way and they provide stability and security for teachers and learners.
