This unit covered teaching new language and vocabulary and the considerations that a teacher should take when selecting vocabulary and sentence structures to introduce in a lesson. There were also example lesson plans for each ESA lesson type which were quite useful to illustrate the effectiveness of each type depending on the target language point. My main learning point was a clarification on the appropriate activities for the Engage vs. Activate phase. I realised I was often using activities that were too difficult at the beginning of the lesson and really should be framing the lesson to build up to this aim at the end or middle (if a patchwork)
