From this Unit 3, I have taken a close look at a variety of different teaching methodologies which are the most common to use. They are: grammar-translation, audio-lingualism, presentation, practice and production,task-based learning,communicative language teaching, community language learning, the silent way, suggestopaedia, the lexical approach. However, all of these different approaches and methods has its own pros and cons.Hence, the use of any approach mentioned is highly depending on the teacher's individual circumstances.
Besides that, this unit also covers variety of different techniques and classroom activities that may help the teacher's lessons become more interesting and productive.It is hard to write down all of the techniques and activities that mentioned in the Unit but I personally like the concept that proposed by Jeremy Harmer, where he names it as 'ESA'-Engage, Study and Activate.This approach can inspire and motivate, arouse student's interest and make them exposed to the targeted language and gain the opportunity to use it. In addition, this approach could give teachers a great deal of flexibility in the classroom , especially for new trainees and new teachers that like me.
