Marion, South Carolina TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
In this unit, I have learned mainly the essentials of making distinction between the various forms of future tenses. I appreciated the efforts in the teaching ideas as to how to present this information so that it is not confusing to learners. For example; teaching the "Future Simple" and the "be going to" tenses at the same time to emphasize differences and ensure the distinction made between the tenses and also the "present continuous" form and the "be going to" form.
From the learner's perspective, I also considered how confusing and limiting it is to have to think about these different tenses in order to use them correctly when one desire to express a future idea. The question then is what is the best way to ensure automaticity in expressing future thoughts? I have done it routinely without thinking about it...how do I get my students to this point? I presume that continuous practice of the activities suggested in the teaching ideas might be the best way of approaching the level of automaticity. I'm not sure.
