Unit 12 focused on the productive skills of language learning - speaking and writing. Similar to the receptive skills, speaking and writing are equally important to understanding and communicating a language and should be taught with equal importance. Two main components to teaching these skills are accuracy and fluency. When making sure that students are accurately communicating the language, the teacher should focus on teaching correct language and ensure that students are receiving it correctly. Fluency focuses more on the students ability to confidently engage with the language. Creativity and confidence with their skills should be the focus, rather than constant correction.
