English is basically a universal language and as such must follow some basic rules of writing. This brings about the subject of writing in the correct form to give it meaning. Thus we come to the subject of English Grammar as rules of written English. To teach English grammar to foreign students we must keep the rules as simple as possible but introduce them to the proper rules later as they become more fluent in spoken English. As the saying in the course, English grammar rules cannot be written in stone because they vary quite a lot. The basic rules should be introduced to the students after they are a little fluent in spoken English which should cover the under mentioned subjects which involves the following. Nouns- Usage, Descriptions, Types, Plurals, Countable & Non countable, and general rules. Adjectives-Description, Meaning, Types, usage, and general rules. Articles- Description,Types, Usage and general rules. Verbs- This is a large subject and covers a great amount words , Description Types, Usage ,general rules. This is problematic to most foreign students, and should be covered slowly and carefully. Adverbs- Description, Usage & general rules. Gerunds- Description, Usage & general rules. Pronouns- This is a vast subject and should be covered very carefully as it takes foreign students time to take in the different descriptions, types , & general rules. Prepositions & Conjunctions- Description, Usage, Main Types & general rules. In conclusion: English grammar is vast subject and many hours can be spent on it, but the basics must apply to written English. Thus I feel that the more the students will practice spoken and written English the more understanding they will arrive at using proper grammar at the end of it. Though mastering this subject is really a nightmare to teachers and learners but if taken slowly both will learn from their mistakes and usually get better.
