This unit focused on class room management, proper discipline methods, and the importance of maintaining organization in the classroom to keep the students’ education central to the lesson. As the student’s prime example of English, a teacher should know to talk enough for them to gain exposure and when to dial it back in order for students to speak the language for themselves. Keeping the classroom environment relaxed and organized can be done by the teacher’s position in the class, using gestures, keeping eye contact among students when needed, and disciplining in a productive way that will not single students out and not distract from a lesson. When discipline needs to be enacted, the teacher should focus less on the student and more on the disruptive behavior, and know when to hold off until after a class to speak with a student.
