Pronunciation is one of the least taught aspects of the English language because of the lack of confidence from teachers. Some teachers believe that pronunciation varies depending on the situation or mood of the speaker, so there aren't any real standards of teaching pronunciation. This unit, though, shows how it is possible to improve pronunciation. This unit highlights, Phonology, or the study of sounds. Different sounds, the change in volume or stress, can all carry a certain message for different words and sentences. For example, the word "yes", can either be a statement or a question, but the change in tone makes it noticeable which "yes" the speaker is using.
