Unit 10 highlighted all of the different evaluation and testing methods which can be used by a teacher at differing parts of a course. I learnt that progress tests should be carried out periodically, in order to determine which language has been remembered or gained and which language has been forgotten. I also learnt that personal evaluation by the students themselves, through methods such as questionnaires, can encourage genuine interaction, develop a much larger awareness among students of what is happening within their classroom and it helps you as a teacher to understand better how the students react to what you do. In addition to this, the results of this evaluation can be discussed and the teacher can take the students' comments into consideration when planning future lessons.
