The nine methodologies, some easy for the teacher,but not so effective for students,do offer ways to get through a lesson, but the ESA - Engage/Study/Activate - really does seem to be the most effective way for students to become FIRST become interested, possibly motivated, before the actual grammar or other language structure is presented. That correction should take place in the STUDY phase seems logical. I particularly like that the teacher should confine nearly all correction - of mistakes, of errors - to this portion of the language. The ACTIVATION portion, while possibly frustrating for a persnickety native English speaker, does seem important for student ownership of the language issue being presented and dealt with during the lesson.
