Unit 16 talks about the conditionals and reported speech, and how important is to take these into account, when learning a new language. It explains that most of the time students use them wrong because there are a few with similar structures and similar usages, so that brings with it the learners find difficult to use them right when speaking. The unit explains we have more than one conditional in English (the zero conditional, the first conditional, the second conditional, the third conditional, and the mixed conditional) and it also explains their forms and usages giving examples for the students to understand better. Besides we can see in this unit, too the different teaching ideas professors can use in the classroom to make students understand, improve their knowledge about this topic, and be more fluent when speaking the language. Some of the activities examples we see in this unit are: complete the conditional, split sentences, chain conditionals but also the “what a question!” and “Nuclear bunker role-play” activities that help students to speak more and be more creative. Unit 16 also talks about the reported speech explaining when to use it and how to use it correctly when speaking English giving clear examples of what to change in a sentence when changing from direct speech to reported speech when a third person is the one talking about something someone else did in the past, present or future.
