This unit introduced various methods of teaching and explained there strengths and weaknesses. The preferred method taught here is the ESA, Engage Study Activate, method. During Engage, the class is highly active in a game or class activity to begin introducing the subject while stimulating interest. Study is giving the more concrete lecture on the material and is the strictest area of corrections. Activate is a small group activity to practice the material taught in the Study portion. Corrections here are only for the unit material, but is not very strict. These parts of a lesson can be combined in multiple orders so the class pattern can stay dynamic from day to day. They can be combined like the boomerang, patchwork, or a simple linear method. A common method for basic classes is the Grammar method which uses direct translation of primary language to secondary language. This allows for a foundation to build off of for future classes using ESA.
