This unit explains what is intonation and the importance of it in English learning process. In this unit intonation is defined as a variation in volume and pitch of a sentence. The unit provides information and examples of intonation patterns :raise/fall, fall/raise and monotone. This unit also provides a lot of information on the topic of stress via tables with stressed syllables. In addition, it provides with useful techniques for teaching intonation and stress. Apart from that, the unit has information about phonetic alphabet and its usage. By the end of the unit, there is information about articulation that includes: the speech organs, place of articulation and manner of articulation.
