I learnt the specifics of how to express different periods of time in the past. I had never actually learned the specific difference, yet I had been using them correctly. It is great knowing how to express long deration of past events, Past Perfect Continuous; past actions proceeding one another, Past Perfect; specifically when actions occurred previously, Past Continuous; and an action simple occurring in the past.
