Unit 8 teaches us productive skills; speaking and writing. It explains why it is so important and the best ways to teach it. We learn the difference between accuracy and fluency, which is more important as well as some useful activities for the classroom. There is a great section on encouraging students to speak and why they may be reluctant to do so. There are some great techniques to encourage interaction between students; for example, group and pair work, controlled and guided practices. We also learn about writing skills; handwriting, spelling, layout, punctuation and creative writing.
