This unit is about Managing classes. Classroom Management is the skill of organising and managing the class, having a friendly, relaxed manner and maintaining discipline. As a teacher, it's important to give appropriate eye contact, gesture and the voice. How to ueseuse them correctly is introduced in this unit. There are four ways to group students to take classes. Whole-class grouping, Student working on their own, Pairwork and Groupwork. Each of them has its own prons and cons. And I learned that if the class is small size, pairwork is a good way for students to practice English because it can increase students' talking time and student to student interaction. But I should pay attention to not letting them use their native language. Class arrangement is essential as well. Orderly Rows, Circles and horseshoes, Separate tables and The teacher's position are four catalogues of class arrangement. During teaching classes, we should balance teacher talking time and student talking time. Try to avoid unnecessary TTT: choose carefully the language for explanations and instuctions, avoid TEFL jargon, use gestures, mime or pictures, don't over-elaborate, use language that is below the level being taught and keep it simple.
