In Unit 9, I have learned the value of being prepared for a lesson. Not only should I plan activities in advance and try to guess how much time each of them will require, I should also be flexible in order to respond to the needs of students, even if I've tried to anticipate those needs in advance. I should keep a record of everything I've done in class in order to remind me of what we've covered after the months pass by, while also developing themes and congruencies among my different lessons for the semester/term/etc. By critically examining my lessons after they are finished, I'll have a record of teaching strategies that worked and didn't work, and such a record will greatly assist me in improving over time. I should also make sure to subtly test students on materials covered in previous classes using a variety of different techniques, to ensure lessons taught are remembered by students.
