In the third unit, I learn the different factors of class management. Such as eye contact, gesture, and the voice we use in the classroom. We need to be considerate in the way how we use them. When we use eye contact, it should be a friendly way. It should help to encourage the students, hold the attention of students, checking for participation and so on. However; we should avoid using eye contact when it is group work time because it would confuse the students. I also learn that, we should use the students's name after giving a question since this would help keep students' attention and we should avoid giving questions in order because it is predicable that students would feel bored with the same order.
How we use our language is important too. When we give instruction, we should avoid using terms, we should not over-elaborate and keep it simple for students to understand. This will reduce teacher talking time. Also, it would be helpful for teacher to ask students whether they understand the instruction. Establishing rapport is essential for teaching. Always try to encourage and stimulate our students. Let them feel safe and have the willingness to share their thought and use new language to express themselves. For class management, a teacher should be firm but friendly in the mean while.
