Teaching productive (speaking and writing) skills are covered in this unit. Starting with defining the differences between accuracy and fluency in students’ efforts, and the results and the phases they fall under, we learn how both types of activities are equally important. An explanation and suggestion of activities, both controlled and guided, are given. Just as language learning naturally first takes place in spoken form, then in written form, this lesson covers both forms in this order.
As with other lessons, suggestions are given in unit 12 in how to foster student engagement and encourage student participation, especially in speaking, and student interaction.
