I found this unit to be very difficult to digest and am still quite uncertain about a lot of things in it. The modal verbs come naturally to a native speaker, so it's easy to look and see what they should be, but all the tables and controlled usage seems very difficult for anyone to memorize. Passive and active voice became a bit clearer to me, and learning about independent and relative clauses cleared up a few questions I've had for years, but by far the most difficult subject for me is the phrasal verbs and the way they interact with particles. Identifying all of those components is quite complex. These types of things in English grammar and the fact that native speakers learn everything through immersion makes me think that rather than trying to teach it methodically, they would best be learned in purely conversational format.
