A successful teacher should be confident, cheerful and be able to maintain discipline in the classroom. The teacher can use eye contact, voice, and gesture to communicate with students. There are different seating arrangements that can be used. A whole class has advantages but the teacher may choose smaller groups for various lessons. The students can interact and use the new language themselves in smaller groups. If possible, considering the space available, the teacher may choose a circle or horseshoe arrangement or separate tables for student activities. The teacher should provide new information, ask for feedback from the students and give individual attention to those who need it. The teacher is important to provide discipline and control so that all may have a positive learning experience. The teacher should act immediately to stop problem behavior, asking the problem student to stay after class to be reprimanded.
