In Unit 5 we learn about planning are lessons and how important they are for us to become better teachers. We learn about the three important functions planning has which include, it being an aid to planning, a working document, and a record. When we make lesson plans we can write down a goal we want to achieve in each lesson. It is like a map for us of how we can find our way during our teaching time. If we have goals we want to achieve or just even have the student achieve it will help us organize the lesson according to the need of the student. If one way is not working we can be flexible and try another ways the students enjoy learning. It prevents us from being stuck during the teaching time allocated and helps the lesson keep going. It is much easier this way because then our lessons are focused on the goals we want to achieve and also acts as a record for us. We have something to refer back to so we can improve other lessons as well. This way we also have a record of what went well and what did not work. We can then also be able to improve our teaching.
We learned about how a lesson plan should be and what should be included in it as well. I like the idea of keeping them simple and making sure all the activities touch a balance of skills. Lesson plans helps us stay organized with the goals we want to achieve at each stage of the ESA plan. They help the teacher improve as well as improvise when needed to fit the students needs and take notes on what method is effective in her teaching and what is not.
