In unit 5: Managing Classes, we learned about good techniques for the management of a class from the set up of the room to the discipline of unruly students. I can not say that I ever thought about the set up of the classroom as all of my classes have been in the row configuration. As far as making eye contact and using gestures goes I feel that I already do a good job of using those techniques while communicating. One thing that this section did highlight for me is the importance of speaking clearly and at the proper pace as I have a tendency to talk fast and mumble. As someone who had anxiety as a student in large group settings, I much prefer the idea of small groups or pair work over full class activities. Because there are many benefits to the full group activities I would prefer to do the smaller group activities first so students would have an oppertunity to practice before being put on the spot.
