looking at this lesson, it is very clear that it is not to far from previous lesson on present tense. It also has the simple, continuous and the perfect continuous. The past continuous tries to be a little tricky as the present perfect continuous but from all of these, it is clear that past simple is for a past action when the time is given, past continuous is for a past progressive action, past perfect is for a completed past action and perfect continuous is about an action that occurred in the past that could still be in existence in it past tense.
