Unit 6 presents all past tense forms such as past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous in a very clear and concise way. Regarding the suggested activities in class, when teaching the past simple tense, I consider some activities more suitable than others. Some examples would be discussing student’s curriculum vitae or playing interview role in which case the student would get to practice the past simple and get the opportunity to use these experiences for real interviews they may get in the future.
A teacher should know how to explain very well the different forms of present and past tense as well as the usage of each. Practice makes perfect and students should benefit from the knowledge they gain in class by utilizing it whenever an opportunity appears.
