This unit gave an overview of dealing with vocabulary, grammar, and language functions. I learned that learners/students have two types of vocabulary: receptive and productive. I had always known that people had a firm understanding of concepts they were unable to articulate, and now I learned that language learning carries the same principles. Vocabulary can be grouped into two categories, receptive (words known but unlikely used) and productive (actively used). I also learned to use vocabulary that is both teachable and visual to students that are at the early stages of learning. Using visual aids may help clear up misunderstandings that may later occur for new learners.
