This unit is about teaching receptive skills. There are four basic skills in any language: receptive skills---reading and listening, productive skills---speaking and writing. All of them are equally important. There are two reasons for reading and listening: for a purpose or for entertainment. When we read and listen, five specialist skills are very essential: Predictive skills, Specific information ---scanning, General idea---skimming, Detailed information and Deduction from context. I learned that if you want to be a good teacher, you must know how to solve problems with reading and listening. Pre-teaching vocabulary is important and choosing the topics which make students motivated and interested is also important.
