In unit eight, I was surprised to learn that there are so many future tenses. I learned that the future tense is one of the most difficult teaching points in English, as there are so many different ways to explain action in the future. I was able to practice explaining this differences to students. I also learned that it’s not necessarily structure that makes future tense difficult for students, but function. The usage section for each verb tense was particularly helpful.
I’m learning new vocabulary myself. This text uses different terminology than I’m used to, so there are times when I got a little confused. I’ve always learned “progressive” instead of “continuous” and usually put “simple” first. For example, “simple past, simple present, simple future” as opposed to “past simple, present simple, future simple”.
