In my experience teaching this grammar, I have found students getting confused with the concept of the present continuous and its use for future plans, they often use the simple future to talk about personal plans that's why as mentioned in the unit, it's important to teach both the simple future and the present continuous in order to emphasize the differences between the two. The activities that help students to use the future grammar in different ways are predicting the future, discussing schedules, diaries, timetables and arranging appointments.
