This unit illustrates the importance of communication, clarifying its purpose, its importance to build up fluency in the students. These activities must stir up their interest and comfort in speaking.
The demonstration of accuracy in the study stage, is controlled by the teacher. The emphasis on fluency in the activate stage allows for students' experimenting creatively with the language.
The controlled activities by the teacher includes drills in both choral and individual listening and responding. The guided activity is still controlled by the teacher, but is not for exact language, but for introducing model dialogues, and role plays.
Fluency based activities were variable, but I thought the information gap -portions of information to be shared to form a whole picture was interesting. The writing activity demonstrated with cartoon strips for dialogues and descriptions or actions were excellent to promote ease in writing short portions.
