This unit presents the future tenses. The structure for this tense is much different from the ones we saw before (present and past tenses). Although there are the correlative future tenses (simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous) we get to see three more "tenses" for the future, as th egoing to future, the present simple and the present continuous. Future simple is used to talk about certainties, promises, speculations, spontaneous decisions, threats and predictions based on no present evidence. Future continuous is used to talk about activities which will be in progress at a particular moment in the future, to predict the present to say what we think might be happening now, for polite enquiries referring to other people's plans, and to refer to future events whic are fixed or decided. The future perfect is used to say that something will be fully completed by a certain time in the future. The future perfect continuous is used to say how long something will have conitued by a certain time. The going to future is used to express intentions, predictions based on present evidence and plans. This tense might be confused with the present cointinuous especially when the present continuous form uses the verb "to go". The difference lays on the fact that the going to future structure is always followed by a verb.
