I learned in this unit traits that make a good teacher, everything from being kind and patient to the need to motivate the learners. I also learned about some traits of good learners, things like the willingness to ask questions is important as is the desire to learn. This unit also covered important roles as a teacher some of those roles were being a model for the language and prompting student to get back in track as necessary. It was also interesting to learn about the differences between young learners and adults. Adults may bring more experience to the classroom but they are often more nervous than the young learners. I learned the different levels of language ability and how it ranges from beginners to advanced. In closing it was also interesting to learn about the different reasons that motivate student to study such as career prospects, improve grades or just a general interest in languages.
