This unit is about evaluation and testing, there are different ways to assess a students language level: Tutorials, evaluation by the students and tests.
Tutorials: It's important to review the work done, discuss the aims of the lesson, how well the students performed the tasks, whether there are any problems, etc.
Evaluation by the students: It can be useful to ask the students to evaluate their course, if it's too difficult or if it's just right, if there is enough grammar, etc.
Tests: It is appropriate to give tests at different stages in a course there are different types of tests: Placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, practice tests, general external examinations (TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC), Cambridge Assessment (General English, KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE).
As a teacher I am aware of the importance of the preparation for the different tests of our students, and for that reason we need to know our strengths, weaknesses and be true to ourselves, to teach at the level in which we feel comfortable and confident in our skills and knowledge, in order to help our students and prepare them well.
